Cricket Protein
Powdered whole cricket or cricket protein isolate, a complete protein with an environmental argument behind it. Human data are limited to a few small acute trials; no training study has tested it.

What the science says
- Digestion and muscle protein synthesis Limited evidence
A double-blind randomized trial found that insect protein is digested and absorbed in humans and raises postprandial muscle protein synthesis. It was a single acute study in a small group, not a training trial.
- Blood amino acid response Limited evidence
A human trial reported that insect protein isolate raised circulating amino acids similarly to soy protein. Similar to soy means adequate, not superior to whey or milk.
- Gut microbiota Limited evidence
A double-blind randomized crossover trial in healthy adults found modest microbiota changes and reduced an inflammatory marker after two weeks of cricket consumption. The sample was around 20 people and the clinical meaning is unclear.
