Creatine Nitrate

Creatine paired with nitrate for solubility and a nitric-oxide angle. It appears safe at the doses tested, but no better than creatine monohydrate on any measured outcome.

Evidence last reviewed: August 2026

What the science says

  • Tolerated up to 3 g/day Moderate evidence

A dose-dependent randomised trial of acute and 28-day creatine nitrate supplementation found it well tolerated up to 3 g/day, with no clinically significant changes in blood markers.

  • No clear performance advantage Limited evidence

The same trial found limited effects on exercise performance, and a systematic review of alternative creatine forms found no evidence that any of them outperforms monohydrate.

  • The nitrate dose is too small to matter Limited evidence

The nitrate delivered by these products is far below the amounts used in beetroot-juice nitrate trials, so the vascular rationale does not carry over.

Dosage & safety

Studied doseStudied at 1–3 g/day of creatine nitrate. Reaching a standard 3–5 g creatine dose would require considerably more than typical label servings.
SafetyTolerated in the one trial that tested it; higher doses are unstudied. Standard creatine cautions apply. People taking nitrates for angina or PDE5 inhibitors should be cautious with any added nitrate.
