A marine animal rich in chondroitin-like glycosaminoglycans, sold for joint pain. The chemistry is plausible but no controlled human trial has ever tested it for joints.

No randomized or controlled human trial of oral sea cucumber for osteoarthritis or joint pain is indexed in PubMed. The joint claim rests on the fact that sea cucumber body walls contain fucosylated chondroitin sulfate.
- Cartilage protection in the lab Limited evidence
A cell-culture study found that an aqueous Stichopus chloronotus extract protected human chondrocytes taken from osteoarthritic cartilage. Chondrocyte cultures are a very early-stage model and do not predict clinical benefit.
- Anti-inflammatory compounds Limited evidence
A review of anti-inflammatory agents from marine sources catalogues sea cucumber-derived saponins and glycosaminoglycans among candidate compounds. These remain drug-discovery leads rather than validated supplement ingredients.
