Caffeine Gum
Caffeine delivered through the cheek lining, which gets it into the blood faster than capsules. The ergogenic effect is the familiar caffeine effect; the gum's advantage is timing convenience, not a bigger benefit.

What the science says
- Improves exercise performance Moderate evidence
A systematic review and meta-analysis of caffeine chewing gum trials found small to moderate improvements in endurance and some sprint outcomes versus placebo. Individual trials are small crossover studies in trained participants.
- Faster absorption than capsules Moderate evidence
Pharmacokinetic studies found caffeine from chewing gum appears in plasma markedly faster than from capsules, with similar overall bioavailability. This allows dosing closer to the start of exercise, roughly 5–10 minutes rather than 60.
- Effects on strength and jumping are less consistent Limited evidence
A 2026 systematic review and meta-analysis of caffeinated gum for muscular strength, endurance and jumping found effects were smaller and less consistent than for aerobic outcomes. Do not expect a strength breakthrough from the delivery format.
