Telomere Support Formulas
Astragalus-derived blends (TA-65, cycloastragenol) sold to lengthen telomeres. Pooled trials do show longer measured telomeres, but the same analysis found no matching improvement in strength, frailty or inflammation.

What the science says
- Measured telomere length increases Moderate evidence
A 2025 systematic review and meta-analysis of 8 randomized trials (750 participants, mean age 63) found moderate telomere elongation with TA-65 (SMD 0.47), larger in people over 60. Industry-funded trials reported noticeably bigger effects than independent ones.
- No improvement in how people actually function Moderate evidence
The same meta-analysis found no effect on frailty measures (grip strength, SPPB, 6-minute walk; SMD 0.09) and none on CRP or IL-6 — a disconnect between the biomarker being sold and the outcomes buyers care about.
- The original placebo-controlled trial Limited evidence
A 1-year double-blind trial in 117 CMV-positive adults aged 53–87 found telomere lengthening with the low dose (250 units) but not with the high dose, an inconsistent dose pattern; the study was funded and staffed by the manufacturer.
