Endometriosis Support Formulas

Anti-inflammatory and antioxidant blends marketed for endometriosis-related pelvic pain. Meta-analyses of single nutrients do point towards some pain reduction, but the trials are small and wildly inconsistent, and the certainty of the evidence has been graded low to very low.

What the science says

  • Antioxidant supplements and pelvic pain Limited evidence

A 2025 systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized trials found pooled reductions in dysmenorrhoea and chronic pelvic pain scores, but with heterogeneity above 90% and low to very low GRADE certainty; no effect was seen on dyspareunia. The authors explicitly warn the average effect should not be generalized.

  • Melatonin is the most consistent single ingredient Limited evidence

In subgroup analysis of that same meta-analysis, melatonin showed the most consistent pain reduction of the antioxidants tested. It is based on a small number of trials and is a component rarely found in commercial endometriosis blends.

  • Vitamins and diet interventions are inconclusive Limited evidence

A systematic review of vitamin trials in endometriosis and a separate meta-analysis of dietary interventions both concluded that current randomized evidence is too limited and inconsistent to support firm recommendations. Nothing here substitutes for hormonal or surgical management.

Dosage & safety

Studied doseDoses that have been trialled individually include melatonin 10 mg at night, vitamin C 1000 mg plus vitamin E 800 IU daily, omega-3 around 1–2 g EPA+DHA daily, and vitamin D to correct deficiency. Proprietary blends rarely match these amounts.
SafetyIndividual ingredients are generally well tolerated; high-dose vitamin E can increase bleeding risk and interacts with anticoagulants, and melatonin causes daytime drowsiness. The real risk is substituting a supplement for diagnosis: pelvic pain needs proper gynaecological assessment, and endometriosis is under-diagnosed by years on average. Discuss any supplement with your clinician if you are on hormonal treatment or trying to conceive.
